Design tool distributor starts UK EDA forum
Richard Ball
Design tool distributor FirstEDA has announced a UK technical forum, to be held in the week after the Design Automation Conference.
"DAC, in the US, is the premier EDA event and it never fails to give the industry its annual boost," said Julian Lonsdale, founder of FirstEDA and forum organiser.
"However, not everyone can get out to Anaheim this year and those companies that are sending designers are sending fewer than before - restricting the amount of information they can collect."
Aimed at Asic, SoC, FPGA and systems engineers, the forum will cover subjects such as system-level languages, architectural exploration, assertion-based verification, physical synthesis and equivalence checking.
Firms including Summit, Atrenta, Aldec and Synplicity will present at the conference.
"The UK has been without a dedicated EDA event for some years now, so it is more than time for us to resume praising, promoting and fuelling this country's design excellence," added Lonsdale.
"Asic, PLD and system design are alive and well in the UK, but will suffer in the long term if we do not start boosting the industry in the same way that DAC does," he said.
The EDA Forum is on Wednesday June 11 at the Holiday Inn, Heathrow and attendance is free. To register visit www.edaforum.org, or call 01295 201250.
