Synplicity Increases Market Share in the FPGA Synthesis Market In 2003
Synplicity Share of the FPGA Synthesis Market Greater Than All Competitors Combined
SUNNYVALE, Calif ., December 13, 2004 - Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced the company grew its worldwide FPGA synthesis market share lead in 2003 by 14 percentage points over the previous year according to Gartner Inc., the leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry. In Gartner's recently released 2004 EDA Market Trends report, Synplicity's share of the FPGA synthesis market was 58 percent in 2003, compared to 44 percent in 2002. With this sizable increase, Synplicity now holds nearly twice as much market share compared to its closest competitor. Synplicity believes its continued growth within the FPGA synthesis market is due to the desire of customers to have fast and easy-to-use FPGA synthesis products that deliver the highest quality of results.
"We strive to provide our customers with a best-in-class FPGA synthesis product and we are pleased to have extended our leadership position in this market in 2003," said Gary Meyers, president and CEO of Synplicity. "Over the years, we have steadily grown our share of the FPGA synthesis market and expect this trend to continue, based in part on the positive feedback we have received from our current and potential customers and from the strong relationships we have formed with the FPGA vendors. We expect the overall FPGA market to continue to grow and believe we are well positioned to meet the increased demand for tools that enable designers to meet their cost, time-to-market and performance goals."
Gartner forecasts a CAGR of 10 percent for the FPGA synthesis market from 2004 to 2008 and a CAGR of 19 percent for the programmable logic market from 2004 to 2008. Dataquest's annual market share and forecast report titled, " Market Trends: Electronic Design Automation, Worldwide, 2004"* and published on December 1, 2004 was compiled using a variety of data sources including Gartner's research, EDA vendor-submitted responses and detailed end-user surveys. Synplicity's leadership position was based on 2003 license and maintenance revenues for Synplicity's FPGA synthesis products including Synplify® , Synplify Pro® and Amplify® FPGA synthesis solutions.
About Synplicity's FPGA Synthesis Solutions
Synplicity's Synplify software helps programmable logic designers rapidly achieve
aggressive performance objectives. The Synplify software takes designs written
in VHDL or Verilog as input, and compiles, optimizes and maps them into efficient,
high-performance netlists for all leading CPLD and FPGA devices. The Synplify
Pro software offers high quality of results and fast runtimes along with
an expanded feature set optimized to increase performance and productivity
for today's complex programmable devices. The Amplify FPGA software is the
first physical synthesis tool for FPGAs. The Amplify FPGA software improves
circuit performance and timing closure by performing simultaneous placement
and logic optimization during the synthesis process. The Amplify FPGA product
has been used in hundreds of Altera and Xilinx programmable logic designs
around the world. Pricing and Availability Synplicity's Synplify, Synplify
Pro and Amplify FPGA solutions are available now. Pricing for the Synplify
software starts at $9,000 ( U.S.), pricing for the Synplify Pro software
starts at $19,000 ( U.S.) and pricing for the Amplify FPGA product begins
at $25,000 ( U.S.).
